She is of sire Rebel Rouiser Zeek of JDJ x dam Tate’s Sunshine. Zeek is direct
from the founder of the breed’s kennel, John D. Johnson himself. Both Marcy and Hammer have similar lineage as shown
on each of their pedigrees.
Marcy has never been tied up; she exercises daily by mostly rope tugging, running for her tennis
ball and is extremely well cared for. Nutrition has been a huge part of Marcy’s development (as shown in detail
on the Health & Maintenance page) as with Hammer’s. She will not touch dry food unless it’s enhanced. Her
vocab for food is “Chop-Chop” and she is an intense eater. She takes over Hammer’s plate if she feels the
level is more adequate than in hers. He will never fault her for this. She is the mother of his pups and always has the food
right-of-way. Her big treats are ‘B’anilla ice cream or ‘B”anilla Yogurt before bedtime (has increased
her calcium naturally while lactating). Never seems to forget when that time arrives.
Although Marcy is a couch potato she is not much of a cuddler and prefers her own personal arm
chair. She is a great mom to her pups but, does not spoil them rather she is very rough; thinks nothing of knocking them over,
flipping them on their backs by the throat and holding them down for the slightest infraction. She seems more like a staff
sergeant rather than a mom. Her main focus is their nutrition and safety from intruders. Unfortunately, since the arrival
of the pups, Marcy has become anti social even with folks she knows well. Nobody is really welcome at the house right now
with the exception of our friend helping with the website, Sohn. Strangely, she barely knows him but, he has been the only
welcome visitor.
Her hobbies include tennis (chasing the ball a lot) and chewing her Kong (biggest bones, pig
ears, snouts or shanks). She does not like baths at all and looks forward to getting as dirty as possible. Towels are also
very dangerous for Marcy. You must keep your wits about you after her bath time. She will display every definition in her
muscular structure to get a towel and destroy by very small-reps of non-stop intense yanking. Marcy is fully capable of yanking
a large man right out of his shoes if he chooses to be a contender. Motorcycles are heard from no matter where she is because
it’s DADDY!!! Marcy feels the same way about Harleys too … she can also tell the difference and could care less
if it’s another manufacturer.
Marcy is a horrible door greater; we must lock her away or confine her during these times. She
will beat up on Hammer for some reason. She’s apparently showing off her skills to new arrivers but, Hammer does not
appreciate this at all. At night, no one can come to the door unless they announce who they are including our son in college.
Walks are nice but, must be handled correctly every time. Marcy must be walked with shorty leather
gloves as it is otherwise impossible due to the pulling factor at first. Once the walk is underway, she cuts down on that.
These dogs just adore pulling. She is much more tolerant of approachers than Hammer as she likes to meet new people very much.
Marcy has never had a fight. She is brave but, has never had to worry since Hammer obviously
maintains backup Plan B. There have been scary moments for her when she was small and she would swing quickly behind Hammer
to show his strength. She is very clever and will outsmart us all each time.
We are lucky to have found Marcy as a perfect mate for Hammer and she is the light of his life.
